Thanks to Carmel Lapa who took the time to hand out, collect, and summarize a survey of our piano teachers in 2010-2011. Here are a few of her findings:
1. The majority of our teachers have 17 to 28 years of teaching experience, with the actual range varying from 1 to 50 years. 2. Our teachers teach an average of 15 students per week, with the actual range of 3 to 55 students. 3. The majority of our teachers have a Bachelor's degree in music, with the education level ranging from no college music courses all the way to Master's degrees. 4. The average number of teaching hours per week was 15, with the complete range being from 1 1/2 to 30 hours per week. 5. The majority of teachers offered lessons 30 to 40 minutes in length. 6. The majority of teachers charge in the range of $30 per hour. 7. Only a few teachers offer 1-hour group lessons with 3-4 students per class at an average charge of $18 per student. 8. The majority of teachers increase rates every 3 to 5 years.
